Village Advantages
Why AC Village is known as the best place for seniors
It starts with our ministry-focus, not a profit-focus. Since our owners (the Rittman, Smithville, Akron and Mansfield Apostolic Christian Churches) view Apostolic Christian Village as a ministry to Wayne and Medina County, Ohio seniors, our priority is about providing the best possible care, not making the most money. Our faith-directed non-profit approach prioritizes people over profits. That shows in tangible ways, such as our staffing levels.
That is just the start. Please read on.
A Wayne and Medina County senior living community bound together to promote abundant living through life’s seasons.

Full range of senior living options
If you enter AC Village for our Maple Grove independent senior living apartments or our Aspen Square resort-style assisted living, it is comforting to know that our campus offers the full range of living options all in one location. Should the need for skilled nursing care arise — whether for temporary recovery from an injury or surgery, or a permanent move — you’ll be given priority for an available room at the Apostolic Christian Home.
Better care through higher staffing
At the Apostolic Nursing Home, we lead the pack in staff hours per patient. That means we have more nurses and aides dedicated to caring for a smaller number of residents than is typical in the industry. Since our caregivers are not spread thin, call lights are answered more quickly, and our aides can spend more quality time with each resident, doing those extra “little things” that make our care exceptional.
Consistently rated 5 stars
Medicare measures all skilled nursing homes on a one to five-star rating scale. This rating is based on a nursing home's overall performance in three areas: health inspections, staffing, and quality measures. The Apostolic Home has consistently ranked among the best in the industry, with a nearly perfect five-star rating.
A spiritual focus
The message of the gospel brings comfort, hope, and the promise of salvation. This is important all through life, but it becomes an even more precious anchor during one’s latter years. That’s why AC Village prioritizes spiritual support by offering opportunities for worship, Bible study, hymn singing, communion, devotions, and one-on-one spiritual guidance for those who wish to participate. Faith is never imposed, but for anyone seeking spiritual care, it is readily and warmly available here.
Exceptional cleanliness
Our facilities are known for their clean, comfortable atmosphere—free of unpleasant smells and spic and span down to the fine details. We invest in the right people and the right routines to keep everything truly spotless. At our 5-star facility, cleanliness goes far beyond appearances—it’s part of who we are and it's a way to honor the dignity of our residents. We believe cleanliness is something both our residents and their visiting family members deserve.

Something to look forward to each day
Good food
Tasty meals are a highlight for our AC Home and Aspen Square residents. Enjoy a tremendous variety of hearty, flavorful midwestern dishes that seldom repeat. Savor such favorites as parmesan chicken, roast turkey, shepherd's pie, pork loin, beef stoganoff, meatloaf, stuffed peppers, or fish sandwich, just to name a few. In addition to our monthly menu, our Cafe is always available with a range of simpler food, such as soups, sandwiches, burgers, pizza and much more.
Engaging activities
Our activities programs are second to none. This is due to our outstanding staff, but also to our host of engaged volunteers who share their time and talents to benefit our residents. Every day is full of optional activities that range from inspiring music to games that engage the mind and body to spiritually encouraging devotions to baking to movie nights. And much, much more. The Home and Aspen Square each have their own activities.

Compassionate care
At AC Village, you’ll find a welcoming, faith-filled environment where our team strives to reflect the love of Christ in every interaction. It’s evident in the small but meaningful moments—an extra measure of kindness, a thoughtful gesture that honors a resident’s preference, or the tender support offered to families during difficult times.
Tremendous volunteer engagement
Our staff provides exceptional care, but our volunteers add something truly special. Because we’re a mission supported by churches, we’re blessed with a network of dedicated volunteers who serve from the heart. Their time and talents bring warmth, extra activities, and personal attention that set our home apart from most others.
Reasonably priced
As a nonprofit ministry, we aren’t driven purely by the bottom line. We strive to keep our rates reasonable to accommodate as many people in our communities as possible. The AC Nursing Home is priced very competitively given the premium care provided and Aspen Square is unquestionably the best assisted living value in and around Wayne and Medina counties.
Strong financial contributions from our supporting churches covers new construction and building improvements. This enables us to operate without the expensive burden of debt, thus helping us achieve our goal of affordable rates.
A strong financial foundation
Because of careful stewardship and the generous giving of our supporting churches and donors, AC Village is able to invest more in our people, programs, and facilities than most long-term care communities. That shows in nicer facilities, less staff turnover, and long-term stability.
